ICEBERG ESTIMATING TOOL
Real numbers and tools are available from the industry standards laid out in RS Means and
IFMA’s Benchmarking guides, among others. Every foot of material and hour of labor costs across
North America is available for comparison. DIRTT developed a comprehensive data tool using all
this available information and called it ICEberg® (because the client usually sees the tip of the
real costs when the bidding process starts). ICEberg not only counts every dollar in a side-by-side
comparison of the same space initially constructed in DIRTT vs. Conventional Construction, it analyzes
the environmental cost for each then looks at the life cycle savings with an agile space.

ICE DESIGN AND SPECIFICATION TOOLS
DIRTT uses ICE® software as its platform for design and manufacturing. ICE is object-oriented,
expert software that is full of DIRTT’s product information. It understands that when a designer
draws a line, it is a wall, full of product knowledge, right down to the connector pieces required
for building that wall. If a change is made to the line, ICE instantly updates the information in the
parts list and price. At the same time ICE is automatically creating an interactive 3D interface.
